CSRA RESA

The state of Georgia has set aside educational dollars geared towards the Youth Apprenticeship Program.  The effort is designed to provide students with a "road-map" to use as a guideline in establishing their maximum career potential.  YAP integrates work experience with the Tech Prep initiative providing advantages to employers, students and society as a whole.

Youth Apprenticeship Programs are available to Georgia students in over 140 school systems and are also available through 14 Regional Educational Service Agencies.  The Youth Apprenticeship Program assists in the development and delivery of skilled individuals entering into the high technological market of our local businesses and industries. Students receive 2,000 hours of work- based experiences at business and industry training sites located throughout the CSRA. Local high school student apprentices are selected as apprenticeship learners based upon their academic achievement, dependability and the desire to experience real-life work-based learning while still in high school.

The Youth Apprenticeship Program involves a diverse spectrum of technical and professional careers including; business, marketing and information management, environmental and agriculture sciences, human services, health and medical occupations, technical and engineering careers as well as arts and humanities opportunities.  Please contact Melvin Stewart, CSRA RESA Youth Apprenticeship Coordinator, for more information.
