About Karen Murdock
Karen
has been involved in public education for 18 years.
She obtained her Bachelor's, Master's and Specialist's degrees from
Augusta State University in Middle Grades Education with math and science
concentrations. While most of her experience deals with middle grades
mathematics, Karen has taught all four content areas and even Chorus.
She served on a wide variety of school and system committees during that
time. Karen achieved National Board
Certification in Early Adolescence Mathematics in 2001.
Karen
is very passionate about the use of varied teaching and assessment
strategies
and their effect on improved student performance.
She believes that
learning is simpler and much more valuable to the student if it is
presented
in a real-world context that the student can understand.
She has
presented
her ideas at national level math and science conferences.
Karen
has
also taught state-level mathematics certification courses as well as
undergraduate
math education courses at Augusta State University.
Karen’s
role at CSRA RESA revolves around the coordination and implementation of
the Teacher Alternative Preparation Program as well as providing mathematics
content and assistance with the Georgia Performance Standards.
