About Karen Murdock

Karen has been involved in public education for 18 years.  She obtained her Bachelor's, Master's and Specialist's degrees from Augusta State University in Middle Grades Education with math and science concentrations. While most of her experience deals with middle grades mathematics, Karen has taught all four content areas and even Chorus.  She served on a wide variety of school and system committees during that time.  Karen achieved National Board Certification in Early Adolescence Mathematics in 2001.

Karen is very passionate about the use of varied teaching and assessment strategies and their effect on improved student performance.  She believes that learning is simpler and much more valuable to the student if it is presented in a real-world context that the student can understand.  She has presented her ideas at national level math and science conferences.  Karen has also taught state-level mathematics certification courses as well as undergraduate math education courses at Augusta State University.  Karen’s role at CSRA RESA revolves around the coordination and implementation of the Teacher Alternative Preparation Program as well as providing mathematics content and assistance with the Georgia Performance Standards.
