A series of Regional Math Collaborative meetings have been set-up for CSRA
RESA's school systems. All middle and high school math teachers are invited to
attend. The purpose of these meetings is to bring updates from the State
Department of Education, address the issues and concerns of implementing the GPS
and integrated curriculum. Participants will look at tasks from middle school
and High School Math I and begin to find ways to make a smooth transition
between middle and high school. Throughout the year, participants will have an
opportunity to begin to develop teaching units for high school and evaluate
textbooks/instructional materials for the new Math I course.
During the first meeting, Dr. Sam McGaw
will present recent updates, the Standards Based Classroom checklist, plans for
textbook selection and address concerns that teachers have at this point.
Teachers should bring a copy of their math GPS and questions/concerns they have
about the new curriculum or implementation of standards. Regional dates and
