About Sam
Dr. McGaw has been an educator for over 20 years in elementary, middle, and
college levels. She has served as a teacher, an assistant principal, a
mathematics and instructional technology consultant, and a college mathematics
and education instructor. She has also been a curriculum writer and staff
developer in her own business. Sam has written curriculum materials which have
been disseminated nationally by the National Science Center at Fort Discovery.
Dr. McGaw most recently taught mathematics at Augusta Technical College at the
Thomson Campus.
In addition to her work in education, Dr. McGaw has conducted leadership
seminars for businesses and for various youth groups. She is a degree holder in
Toast Masters International and enjoys story telling, having won a state Tall
Tales title in 1994.
Dr. McGaw's professional preparation includes a Bachelors degree in Elementary
Education, a Masters degree in Mathematics Education from The University of
Georgia, and a Ph. D. in Curriculum and Instruction with emphases in
supervision of instruction and mathematics from Ohio University.
